About the Program

Good Samaritan Scholars
is the nation's largest privately-supported scholarship program for nursing education. Donations from generous individuals, foundations, and companies allow the Foundation to assist almost 300 students each year. Those students attend colleges of nursing across Texas and pursue licensure at every level of nursing practice.
 
 
Good Samaritan Scholars has assisted more than 15,000 nurses since 1951. In 2009, Good Samaritan Foundation's total scholarship support surpassed $15 million.

 About the Students

On average, Good Samaritan Scholars are older, more diverse, and have greater financial need than other students attending Texas colleges of nursing. In 2010, they attended 38 different schools.
